Dug out my Explorer....just to be sure I'm ready for the challenge.

Nothing to do with me wondering if I might have lost it or anything like that.

Getting my Explorer ready for the challenge. Ordered these plus scales from eBay.

Ordered June 17 and finally arrived today. From the Ukraine.

As is now..

The new plus scales and new tweezer, toothpick, eyeglass screwdriver and ink pen...

Later tonight I’ll do the scale swap.

Yellow SAKs are my favorite. My EDC is a yellow Huntsman.

Rather mundane quote entered here to approximate humor.

These scales today are my first yellow ones. I do like, but worry about dirty finger prints.

Almost to the launch time here...the Indiana Jones of SAKdom!  This is going to be a way for me to get close to mine.  I've tried to bond with this pattern, but haven't been able to yet.

Very nice, appears to be an entirely different SAK.

Sorry to disappoint Barry, but I feel the same. I prefer a SAK that can be carried in my coin pocket easily. The explorer is just not one of them. I think a custom is in my future, as I love and really need a magnifying glass at my age.

I prefer the Huntsman, but the magnifying glass has made me look at the Explorer with new old eyes.

Got room for a last-minute entry? I am cleaning and oiling Explorer as I type.

At 4 layers, the Explorer is thicker than I normally carry, but I am looking forward to this challenge to see if I really notice the difference.

I prefer the Huntsman, but the magnifying glass has made me look at the Explorer with new old eyes.

It sounds like you really want one of the discontinued Woodsman.  The 5 layers make it bigger than I like for edc, but nice for camping or more rural travel.

I packed a Huntsman for years, but that Mag Glass is sure nice to have!  I'm finding, too, that almost everything has Philips Head screws nowadays.  If I had to pick the ideal kit along these lines, it would probably be the Yeoman.  I like packing mine in my watch pocket too.  It's been awhile since I have carried a 4 layer!

I have been kicking around the idea of having the metal saw/file from my Mountaineer added to my Explorer. That would have about everything i need. Maybe also swap the small blade for the inline awl from a 93mm...

I just finished the July Traditional challenge. Had one day, today, to carry whatever before the Explorer challenge starts for me. So tonight I’ve got my Pioneer X. But my Explorer is all ready to go when I get up tomorrow.

Even though it’s after midnight here, and technically Aug 1, my shift here at work started on July 31.  So for me it’s still considered the 31st.
