Recently got a couple of sheets of 2mm Black Kydex to experiment with.
Ended up making a belt carry sheath for my Charge Plus, which I haven’t really found a sheath for that I get along with so though I’d give it a go with Kydex as I wanted the tactical look, instead of my usual choice of leather.
It took a few attempts to get the fit right, so that it’s not too tight to get out, but again not loose that it rattles and falls out when wearing it.
Oven works well to get the initial shape, with some dense foam, pieces of wood and a vice with clamps to form.
Then used a heat gun to tweak the shape and fit.
Ended up gluing the sheath together with strong epoxy as well as using the open rivets to close any gaps etc.
Finished by sanding all the edges in steps and last of all polishing on the buffing wheels with a little polishing compound.
Next time I’ll definitely buy more sheets as I scrapped one sheet by making mistakes and ended up using scraps to make a detachable belt loop.
But the more you work with Kydex, the more you get used to it.
Anyway what do you think?
I’m gonna buy some more sheets later and experiment with some other designs for different multi tools. Specifically for the LM OHT.
Plus with the choice of the open eyelets on the Kydex I can design and make a flashlight/pen/bit holder that can be removed and added when needs be
