Harry my little friend
on: August 23, 2019, 01:00:27 PM
This is a few words about my little friend Harry the Jack Russell, Harry was 9 years old and buddy to Zodi 14, old Zodi would regularly clean Harry's ears and snuggle up together.

I've messaged MTO member Chip about his dog Badger as my story here is the same and I wholeheartedly pray for a better outcome for them.

Harry developed a cough that after a few days showed no sign of clearing, so off to the vet's.

Vet said Harry had a chest infection and unfortunately a slight heart murmur. An injection and some antibiotics with the recommendation of come back if no improvement.

Well Harry seemed to be picking up within a few hours so we went for a walk and all was looking good.

Later through the night he started breathing faster, I decided to go back to the vet's in the morning. In the morning I talked to and cuddled him, just moments later Harry collapsed and sadly died right in my arms.

It absolutely broke me, both my little dogs have got me through some aweful times and Harry was a wonderful little fella, incredibly loyal and loving.

I still went to the vet's, they said Harry probably had sudden heart failure due to the murmur.

I buried Harry yesterday and will make him a head stone.

Thanks to Chip for his kind words and the MTO just for having somewhere to reach out.

Jeff and Zodi.

So sorry for your loss mate, he looked a lovely little fella.9 is no age for a small dog but take some comfort that he had a good life with you and I am sure he loved you as much as you loved him.

Take care of yourself and zodi.
My trouble is i never show initiative, but that's only because no one has told me to.

+1

I had some dogs, when I was growing up. I still remember everyone and how it felt when I lost them. I love animals, but I don't see myself getting another one.

Sorry to hear that

Dogs can become a large part of our lives, and leave a big hole when they are gone.  The best advice I can give is try to remember all the good times you had together.  It won't stop the pain, but it might help a bit.

I'm sorry to hear about Harry.  I've been down that road too many times, with the distinct possibility of doing it again in the all too near future.

It never gets easy, but then, it's not supposed to be.  The hardest part isn't the loss, even though it seems hard now.  For me, at least, the hardest part is in a week or two, when you think you are getting past it, but then you find a clump of fur, a toy, or just something you instinctively do, like stepping over a dog that is no longer there, and it will all come back on you like a ton of bricks.

The only thoughts that have given me any comfort in times like this is that, while things will never be the same, they will, in time, be good again.

If you ever want to talk, feel free to send me a message.

I'm very sorry for your loss my friend ...

Been there myself in the past, more than once, and it always hurts like h*ll ...

If it's any comfort, he died in your arms and you were there for him when he needed you.  (And knowing dogs, he was probably more worried with his owner being so upset than with what was happening to himself, dogs are that awesome).

I'm so sorry for you. :(

My cat isn't doing all that well lately either and even that hurts me.
I don't dare imagining him being gone...

Off to the vet again tomorrow.

I hope you'll find a place to put your grief soon
