Bladeless crunch? What tool to mod in?
on: July 18, 2019, 10:20:24 PM
I am on a kick lately where I like my multi tools to be bladeless. I always have a folder or a SAK on me, and don’t want redundant tools. Plus Some concert venues and hospitals won’t allow any kind of bladed anything, even my mini champ.

So what can I mod into the crunch to replace the blade? Scissors would be sweet. Will other leatherman tools drop right in?

Charles.

I had this thought as well, I just don't have a crunch to mod. Honestly the toolset is soo good already. The only thing I could think of was a reasonably thick pry tool/scraper.

G'Day,

The Crunch pivot should be the same as all the older models. The trick will be to make the new addition clear the locking mechanism on the inside of the handle. If you have a look at the blade you will notice a cut-out at the bottom to fit that mechanism. You will also have to made sure that the new bit will be compatible with the locking mechanism. It will have to be short and similar size to the blade or it will not clear the inside of the pliers head and the bit to cut electrical wires. I don't think a scissors will allow the tool to close properly.

I have not taken one apart yet though.

Cheers, Pete

Our Wspeed had put in a wave scissor with some genius solution to create a spring for it. I am sure he will chime in soon.

Here is the link to fitting the Wave scissors
But there isn’t much space on the Crunch
So it does need some work  :tu:

Wow, sick mod. But honestly I'd never go through that effort because I always have a 58mm Vic. I don't think scissors would be the easiest choice. How about a hack saw blade?
