Nice pic, Barry!  Sos24, cider really works with pork casseroles- full ingredients: red & white onions, garlic, diced pork (peppered for 24 hours beforehand), leek, celery, split red lentils, carrots, parsnip, swede, red cabbage, cider, and chicken/veg stock to cover - house is full of the smell now, and it’ll be a welcome return home after a hike out and a trip to the local this afternoon! :hatsoff:

Day 9
The Yeoman was the carry again today.  First some mail duty and then cutting the tag off some flowers for my wife
(Image removed from quote.)
(Image removed from quote.)not a good picture, because it was dark in the car
Great knife and usages!

Day 9
I've switched back to the Champion. I really missed the scissors and the saw and other bits. Only use today though was the toothpick.
Understand that! The scissors are one of the best tools Victorinox makes!

Thanks, Max.

Day 10
Only a few hours into the day and the Yeoman has already been seeing some use.  First, I used the scissors to cut the shipping label for a box I need to mail.  Then it was snack time, used the knife to open a bag of trail mix and the combo tool to open the beer to go with it.

Nice usages and knife!  :tu:

Day 10

234k Swissair opening some cider first thing, not for a tipple, but to put into a pork and cabbage casserole for this evening! I must get some more polishing pads for the Dremel and finish off sprucing up 234k later on today....
Never had that but would definitely sit at the table and try it!

You’ve caught the light just right there, Rapidray! That wine was good despite its relative youth - I’ll be seeking out a few more bottles!

Cheers Kamakiri - as I say, more than happy to be corrected! I just love the quarter round awl on the front scale! I should have said Day 9, not Day 8, so here’s a bonus:

I only mean to get the Wiki updated!  You read it correctly.  :tu:  There have been some examples with printed dates up to '63.

Yours with the awl looks great with the logo!  One more thing for me to keep on the list...

Day 10, a healthy snack before bed.

Great pics and pics again, kinda feeling outclassed to be honest. Well, if luck be with me I may get some candidates during the challenge. Or I could look trough my cabinet again.

Kamakiri - as I say, more than happy for correction as I really know very little about SAKs which is why I love this site so much! The tang stamp is even more confusing as -Victoria-crossbow-officier Suisse comes on 1970s knives....! If this was from 1965 I’d be delighted as its my birth year, but I very much doubt it!!!! But it is a really nice 84mm in nice condition (after a good clean, polish and sharpen) which I’m happy to put into my user rotation.  :woohoo:

Day 10

Ugly, wet weather outside, very lazy, quiet Sunday at home. My choice for today, the Andventurer - Traveler with locking blade? great choice for urban/office EDC in my book! - saw little use apart from some minor nail filing.

Day 10

Yeoman  Of all the discountinued models, this is one of the few that I will actually use since I could mod one if I ever really do damage or lost it.  Personally, the combo tool is really a weight saver here, making this one of the most functional SAK at 4 layers.

What's more, it's only 3 layers, so even better!  ;) And a great model indeed.

:agree:  the combo tool is a weight saver and the reason I really like the Yeoman.  But I think your Mountain Yeoman has you forgetting that the original Yeoman is just 3-layers.

The VOS/CB tang stamp was used for a very long time. By the early-mid '60s the stamped areas of the tang would be well polished and not milled or machine finish.

If the small blade spacer is 'thin' and nickel silver, I'd say '65 is possible!

Would look like this:

Oh, you are absolutely right... can't go back to change it now.

Thank you for the correction
