Is this normal for the Surge?
on: September 07, 2019, 02:12:44 AM
The handles on my new Surge don't line up when the tool is folded up. Just wondering if that is normal or if there is any way to fix it. Also the pocket clip is on the wrong side and slides around.

I just checked mine.

Its off line by such a small margin...unnoticable without looking.

How much is yours?

It's only like a mm. I was just curious because I upgraded from a Wave and it lined up perfectly and the pocket clip didn't slide around.

It is normal for the pocket clip to slide around unfortunately. Some folks here have come up with ways to fix this... I think Kev D was one?

Even the Wave and others (not only LM) have it.
I wouldn't consider a mm on the surge or Wave any problem at all. It's normal.

Even my 1995 Supertool has a mm.

The root cause, I think, is due to the pliers.
The points where the handles are being attached are not always exactly parallel to each other.

My OCD is bad when I get something new haha. I've had this surge for less than two weeks and there's rust on the plain edge blade now too  :(

Mine's a 2011 Gen 1, and the pocket clip fits really loose.
