I broke my car key...not the key itself but its plastic body. Being a transponder key replacement was far too expensive (80-160usd) so I decided to fix it.
The repair was done with quick set epoxy and a pair of eyelets were placed inside the hoop as an eye since I was planning on filling it.
To keep everything in place paper masking tape was put on the backside of the key. To hold the eylets together I needed a piece of tape rolled sticky side out that was small enough to fit inside the eyelets...this is where the toothpick and tweezer from my Vic Trekker came out since I couldnt roll that tiny by hand. This was done by sticking the tape to the counter then pealing it back with the tweezer while tucking/rolling this tail on itself with the toothpick.
Everything lined up and was filled/coated with epoxy.
A few hours later it seems to have worked, though it needs some trimming.
