leatherman surge case mod
on: January 29, 2011, 01:19:00 PM
whats up multitool bro's?

i thought id make my first mod post, an interesting one for everyone..:)

leatherman surge case mod ..

After ordering my newest multi tool, the leatherman style cs, Ive decided the sheath or multi tool case have you, wasn't really adequate for what i needed anymore..

I'm sorta out growing it...

this case mod is nessary , so that i can carry the skeletool, and style cs together with everything in my edc loadout pack,

realistically a nine ize, or something would be better for all the stuff i carry, probably, this is what i was thinking anyway, until i ran across an old junk, major pos gerber sheath, i bought this sheath,

Gerber Sheath Xlarge Basic Black - Gerber 08766

i never used it..it was the most horrid thing ever to try to use...

the only upside was, the large velcro in my opinion..i was so mad i after bought this sheath..cussing bullets lol...

realistically, i cannot even fit my skeletool in the gerber sheath properly...

so i decided what the F ...I'm going to cut up this gerber xlarge sheath, to mod my leatherman case ...
 Nylon Sheath for Leatherman Surge

a few shots

previous size

finished inside shot

finished outside shot

skeletool

fullsize bic lighter

4 AAA pack

to give u an idea, the new pocket will fit the skeletool no problem..
also added the bic pic
and the 4 AAA pack, to give u an idea of the width, i did not push it in all the way.
it does go all the way down np

thats how much bigger it is, in comparison to what it can fit..

from the pictures here, u can see what I'm getting at, better than explaining it..
yes, i did leave the old pocket there..i can fit a few things in that pocket as well..

yes a new edc video is coming...

Ive done the write up, I'm waiting on a tool to arrive first..
the basic concept here is this,  i wanted to make the front pocket on the leatherman surge case much bigger..alot bigger...it is now prob 100% bigger at least,
the front pocket is now filled the front of the case 100% than its normal little 25% square..

anyway, this front pocket on the gerber sheath, was a prime candidate for it..it was big and over sized and could be modded to work properly...

so, after a bit of fooling around with it, I'm done now..

this case has been quad stitched, over and over again...this sucker is strong and stable...the pocket is huge now i cant stress that enough..

before, i couldn't get half of a full size bic lighter in there...now i can fit the entire lighter in there and have space..
this should be more than enough room, for the style cs when it arrives...

I'm sure, some of you, are wondering wth!! why do that... just carry it in your pocket..
well, myself, i like all my tools in one spot, mostly if i cant help it...this is my main reason for it ...

my edc load out is alot of junk...not all of it will be mentioned, but just look at my pockets situation here for a second!!

front left pocket, has whatever is needed for the moment or my cell phone..

front right pocket, has my sheffied razor knife at all times..i use this knife too many times a day to not carry it...

back left pocket, holds my mini notepad, all the time I'm writing stuff down at work, this is where it is all the time..

back right pocket is full with my wallet...

as you can see i got no pockets left for anything...

i have one pocket on my company issue long sleeve t shirt and that houses my mini tin with smokes :)

so, after explaining my edc pockets situation, you can see this is why i modded it ..it has to be that way..

anyway thanks for taking a look at me extremely long post for a simple mod..

thanks..
