Fake or not?
on: September 26, 2022, 06:04:37 PM
I am convinced this Kershaw a100 is fake. what do you think?

So i was prowling on craigslist and, wait sec, what is that in the the bottom there...

So i asked for a couple of pictures and I received.

First, the knife, The bevel goes all the way to the spine, but when I look at pictures of actual Kershaw's, the bevel stops right before the thumbstud. And speaking of the thumbstud, it is brass not steel.  And lastly, the blade is stamped "chine stainless" and the a100's were made in 'merica.

Next many of the screws seem to have a pin driven into them.
Also the catch for the handle lock has a machined hole to retain it out of the way. This tool has a hole all the way through the handle.
and lastly, no stamps on either side of the body.

an actual a100

It is a fake but aibuse the term lightly :D because it may have very well been manufactured in the same place as the Kershaw one

I believe someone here at MTO had bought one of these several years ago (who it was I can't exactly remember   ) but I believe they said that they were actually very similar if not exactly except for the writing on the Kershaw  :ahhh

I think the quality may not have been bad either  :salute:

so it was gnawing at my brain and I thought I missed on something I really wanted, so i made the guy an offer of $20 plus shipping and it came today.
doesn't even have the China stamp except on the knife it says "china stainless" it is a little crude and i would hesitate to use it for anything nearing real world use for fear it would just come apart, but it is an interesting tool
