Hello from Italy
on: September 22, 2019, 01:38:27 PM
Dear all,
I am Italian and I found this interesting forum searching on Google about Leatherman mods. I own a couple of Leatherman tools (Wave second model and Charge TTi - I previously owned the first Wave but it is broken and Leatherman replaced it with second model).
I use a lot these tools in my everyday life but in a very light way, so they still like new! :D

The reason to modify the Leatherman tool (not these two, a new one) is to remove the knife, for legal reasons.

Ciao!
 ;)

Welcome.  The nice thing about LMs are they can be modded quite extensively.  Removing the blades is easy deciding what to put in place is the fun part.  Good luck and as you know post pictures when you've completed your mod.

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

Thank you!
The first problem I am facing is to find spare parts... Seems that Leatherman Italy does not sell them... I made some search on the web but I found only few, really expensive, offers...

Thanks for the loki-mobile links. It is just a bit funny to find American spare parts in Russia instead than in the USA... :-\

Someone knows why Leatherman does not sell spare parts?

Welcome Thor  ..... Nice name !!

I believe LM do not sell parts as they do not want to encourage the modding market as
- This could detract from sales of catalogue models
- They could not offer warranty on modded tools
- There could be safety issues if someone does a mod, screws it up, then has an accident with the modded tool.

Yes, this can be a good reason... Unfortunately we live in a world where stupid people are protected, by law, by themselves... :D
