“New Shield” Silver Alox Question
on: September 28, 2019, 07:46:49 PM
Fortunately, I avoided falling into the “gotta catch ‘em all” Alox colors trap, choosing instead to focus on a few subsets of the genre, one of those being silver “new/modern shield” knives with tool configurations that appeared on standard catalog knives (as opposed to special order models such as those from Swiss Bianco).

I need assistance from the collective knowledge of this group to determine what, if anything, I’m missing:

  Solo
  Electrician Solo
  Settler
  Apprentice
  Pruner
  Woodsman
  Pioneer
  Electrician
  Rancher
  Farmer
  Electrician Plus
  Harvester
  First Mate
  Pioneer X

I know the Electrician Solo and Woodsman in the modern configuration were special orders, but they are previously-cataloged models, so they count in my book.

As a follow-up question, I also have one of the Pruner Solos that recently came available. I’ve been told Victorinox has made this model previously as a promotional item, but was it ever a catalog item?

Thanks in advance!

Do Bantam, Cadet II, and MiniChamp silver alox count?
Also, Lumberjack and Micro Farmer?
Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

Great question. I should have specified I’m only speaking of 93mm models.

Is there a pill for this?   If so, would you mind sharing a couple doses with me?

Pretty complete list as far as I can tell. To my knowledge they never made any silver new shield (SNS) Technician/Technician Plus knives, and the only SNS sacking needle knife they made was a First Mate, so no Midshipman, Sailor, Seaman, 2223 (although all were available in colored NS). So yeah... you're list looks spot on. The old catalogs separate the Pioneer w/ bail (2220U) from regular Pioneer (2220), not sure if that's a distinction you feel like making with the keyring.

Non catalog SNS knives that I know of are:

- Pruner Solo
- Farmer Serrated
- Farmer Firesteel
- Carver
- Bushcrafter

Edit - added Bushcrafter

Thanks, all, for the assistance.

As to avoiding the colors bug, I don’t have a cure I can share. There are just too many subtle variations, and I know with my mild OCD tendencies it would quickly become an exercise in frustration if I were to go down that road.

In the spirit of totally honesty, I will admit to having more orange knives than I probably should.
