Day 28 - At first did not think I used the FMstr at all, but then recalled opening a bag of Bicar, then a split ring to add a key, and then at home slit open an envelope, and cut the foil from from a olive oil bottle.

Just as natural as dialing a phone.

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Day 28

Morning walk in the mountains:

Great pix!  :tu:

Mine chews it up in a couple minutes, too.  So I’m not sure how effective they are other than the combo seems to work because the vet said his teeth look really good.
I was wondering the same thing as SVL, glad to hear Fisher is smart to keep his look fresh.  :D

Slow and steady(Image removed from quote.) very nice work comis

Thank you!

Day 29; got out the fixed blade for the next challenge.

Since I don't carry fixed blades outside of the house, outside of my Mora Eldris and ARS Altoids Tin Knife (both with barely, and below 2" blades that can't attract much attention); I decided to go with an old butcher knife that's been in the family for the Nessmuk challenge.

Paracord was my addition, leather sheath is the original that came with my Camillus USA Marine Combat Knife (aka Kabar). I'd switched to a Kabar polymer sheath (A: attachment options B: original owner sharpened the swedge; meaning it was wearing through the leather). Really need to buy a few of these sheaths for butcher-type knives I have. I have 3; two that have been in the family (including one forged from a saw blade) and an Ontario I haven't done much with.

(Image removed from quote.)
Looking forward to this!  :like:

kamakiri Day 28:

Just minor uses throughout the day. Opened some junk mail and didn’t get used in yard duty since most of the close up and detail work was done the other day. Rode along for errands and date night.

DAY 29
About to head out when I realized my truck was out of washer fluid.   This small blade is always good for ringing these foil covers so none of it might accidentally end up in what you're pouring the contents into.  I use this for the sodium hydroxide for our water system as well (and then hit the blade with distilled water and wipe down right away as that stuff is extremely corrosive).

I transferred some new Habanero flakes to a small jar. I used the pen blade to clip out the packaging label and create a new label for the little jar. Don't want to confuse habanero flakes with anything else!

Day 29

The Fieldmaster had a busy day with a lot of it somehow relating to Fisher, so I thought it only appropriate that the pic would be with Fisher and his new harness.

I’m already planning at least one more revision of the harness, but I figure I’ll use the harness for a few days to see what all I want to change.

Day 30. Used the main blade to open a packet of stuff sent by a charitable organization. Also used the scissors to cut open the wrap holding a shopping bag within, as well as a new book of checks my Granddad got in the mail for him.

So far, I will admit, The 84mm Craftsman is the toolset I need; in a bit lighter and easier to carry package. In this example, I did miss the hook on modern SAKs; but I do prefer the clip point pen blade. Phillips design has improved. Despite the older one being forged, it is much bigger, and often reams out screw holes. I carried it quite a bit after Vic returned it to me, and really it wasn't something I needed to dust off out of the Plano boxes. I was already carrying and using it. And, it will be among the backup tools I keep on hand for the Nessmuk challenge; which I'm trying to do sans multitool; exactly how my Great-Granddad got along. Well, on my Granddad's side. My other great-Granddad (on my grandmother's side) quite liked SAKs and had an OC Pioneer.

And yes, that's an SMKW catalog. Thinking about getting the new Realtree Huntsman.

Day 30: This was a quick month!  I hope everyone had a good time and had a chance to get a good feel of the Fieldmaster.  As most of you know, I carried a similar toolset in the guise of the Huntsman for over 30 years as my sole EDC.  Once I joined MTO, I began to pick up different SAKs and experiment with the different sizes and toolsets.  There was a time when I wouldn't have dreamed of saying this, but after carrying the different 2 and 3 layer SAKs, I actually found the Fieldmaster's 4 layers to really be noticeable.  Part of it was that I just didn't need the saw that much in my duties around the house and at work.  During the height of the camping and hiking season, the tool set would have been ideal, but not so much for me in February.  The other part of the equation for me is that the toolset is very similar to my beloved Master Craftsman, which has an extra layer but also has all those backspring tools (especially the chisel, which I use for my woodcarving.).  The difference of the file is not enough that the added girth isn't made up by the added tools.  I prefer carrying 4 layers and up either in my watch pocket or in my left back pocket next to my wallet.  It's kept secure by the depth of my pocket and my wallet.
In summary, I like the Fieldmaster, but I don't know if it will find its way into my rotation regularly.  I absolutely love the WWP scales though!

Not sure if the Badge is finished yet.  I have to check with the mods :)  Thanks for making this a great time everyone!
