Genus and Yardmaster Maintenance
on: October 09, 2019, 05:12:54 AM
Did a full disassemble, clean and oil of my main summer yardwork tools. With a potential blizzard coming at the end of the week, yard and plant clean up was fast and furious tonite. note to self: plant only a few sun flowers, not 30.

I’ll have to get my Genus a new coat of ceracoat next year, almost lost her at least twice in the grass. Some high vis orange maybe . My Yardmaster had a lot of crud in the pivots, nothing a shot of rubbing alcohol wouldn’t dislodge.

One day I am hoping to stumble upon a Genus of Hybrib.  Every now and again I do see some CnC ones.

I'm a little ashamed to admit I wasn't into multitools at the time Tractor Supply was supposedly selling the Genus/Hybrid off for peanuts. Now, those tools are just plain nuts in price. The Bear and Son Gardener shears are more shears for heavy material, not loppers.  I bought some cheapo (HB Smith) that had been at a local feed store for probably 20 years; and everything on it sucked. Good pruner MTs are simply something that doesn't exist. Nearly all on the market are el-cheapo.  Stan Shaw made them in Sheffield for Ibberson, and I think Bonsa made a tool based on their fisherman's MT that had fold-out loppers instead of pliers. Like the former, those are stupid expensive as well.
