I originally made this as a charging station back in the day, where you could take a electrical strip plug everything in under and just run the little wires up, yet also hold some magazines along with pens and stuff, here’s a few pics,

So I got the idea of updating it again but this time going steampunk, so I made a unique light, it’s an led bulb and is dimmable but I don’t have that type of switch,

The other part is the watch holder, being steampunk cast iron pipe is the big thing but can get expensive, so I ended up doing pvc yet painting it black to give off the look of the iron pipe,

But then as I was talking about it, someone said about painting the electrical side also, so I did, but I noticed something, there’s little plates behind the front piece, so what goes good with the color black?

Sure enough I had a can and I painted the plates along with the cage to the light,

Yet then the Mrs said something about the other side, and painting just the ends! Sure enough I listened, yet I couldn’t just stick with the color of the box so I spiced things up a little and painted the box, at the same time the carpet and leather wasn’t going to match and I found something to blend and here’s what the end of the project looks like..

Thanks guys, I must say I didn’t measure anything, except making the pipes equal size, in which the little guy actually did and also cut them, and almost a cats tail since he has to get his noise into everything, as shown here, I just had to go get him out of the trash can!

Soooo much cheaper, like 1/10th compared to the black steel pipe, so spend a few extra and buy a can of spray paint..
The best thing, you can scratch the pvc, then stain it, and make it look like wood!

I got some leftover pvc and a can of stain that I just found, thought it was in the garage, I can try it tomorrow?

I went nut cause I thought I had a stain, yet when I looked through all the paints, NOTTA.. yet the other day when I took something out of a drawer sure enough, I found the stain,

So I have a few scrap pieces of that pvc and I can try it out and see if it does anything,

Ok, I ran out to the garage and grabbed a small piece of pvc and brought it in to see what it will do,
1, I sanded all the lettering off and made it porous,
2, took the file to make a few nice scratches,
3, sanded it again to smooth over everything,
4, and then put some type of stain on,

I guess what color and how many coats and wipes will give you what overall color, that’s a quick two wipe on set, then wipe off.

Kinda want to make a hiking staff, be hollow to store must haves! But idk how strong, some have done it..
