Leatherman has been sending me emails about these all week....

Nice, but no thank you.

$80 and $90 respectively, much like the FREE P series, is just too much.  I could afford it, sure.  But I think they are not worth it.  And $10 to add scissors?  I get that there needs to be a price variance, but $5 seems more reasonable.  It'd be easier to accept if these were priced as $40 and $50 tools instead. And even at that, there are a lot of other knives (granted, that are just knives, not MT's) in that price range offering steel choices that are easily 3 or 4 times better than 420HC (full disclosure: I really like 420HC).

So like the P series, I'll be skipping these too.  But I thank LM for trying and for being somewhat creative.  I dare not say innovative, because... well, c'mon.  This is not a new concept of sticking a few screw drivers and scissors onto a folding knife.  lol.  The magnetic feature alone does not set these apart.

After looking at the photos in the emails they actually look better than I thought they would. Just not my thing though. I like pliers.

The price for these is ridiculous. Unless they drop at least 50%, I will never have one  :dunno:

While I can appreciate 420HC I would think for a knife based tool and the asking price their 154CM would have been used.   :dunno:

While I agree that while 420HC is fine in this age S30V is everywhere and would have been appreciated. That said I must reveal I am a Spyderco loving steel snob.

I will disagree with a lot of you though and plan to buy one.

Easy access all in one tool with a pocket clip is something that I think will be handy.

I blew my MT budget on antique fan parts this week(to try and get the already preexisting fan collection in working order).
Will have to wait a week or two, and buy one at a time. Will likely just get the K2X and the K4. Prices are to high to buy all four.

I see a K2 in my future. Having a capable knife with a few drivers, a pry bar thing, a pokey thing, and a bottle opener, kind of hits a sweet spot for me. I've almost picked up a Crater a few times but it is just so right-hand oriented that I never could make peace with it. This looks to be very lefty-friendly so I'll probably end up giving it a shot.

The Leatherman web site says the Free K4 comes with a sheath.  However, the K4 I bought at Bass Pro Shops (in Illinois) did not come with a sheath in the sealed box.

A phone call to Leatherman claimed that retailers can package the K4 with or without a sheath.   Ugh.  ???

One pleasant surprise is that the supplied pocket clip can be attached to either side of the K4 for left or right pocket carry.

So I have been wondering how thick the blade on these are?

Not a fan of the Skeletool because of its overly thick blade.

The K4 blade is a sabre hollow grind.  Using a digital calipers, I measured the spine as 0.125 inches (3.18 mm) thick along most of its length.

Yes, the K4 blade is hollow ground, but only the bottom part of the blade.   Google it.
