I’m Mark from the county of Cheshire in north west England, UK.
At the time of writing I’m in my late forties (hurts writing that!). I’ve had careers in construction and IT but am now the homemaker in our household, looking after my fiancée’s youngest daughter, the animals, and everything else that’s going on.
My father was an outdoorsman, and carried out his National Service in the Air Force. He gave me my first pocket knife when I was about four years old, taught me about tools, fire, the woods, and generally how to live, and look after myself and others.
My main EDC interests are knives and small tools, as I don’t often carry a bag. On any given day, secure situations excepted, I may carry a Victorinox Swiss Army knife and either a Leatherman Piranha, Brewzer or a Gerber Shard. I also always carry a fine, black, permanent Sharpie.
I have many knives to choose from, but about ten or so form the usual rotation. I’m a keen sharpener (water stones and Sharpmaker get equal use).
I like well-maintained tools and an appreciation of mechanical sympathy.
Well, that’s probably enough of an intro. Back to reading!
Thanks for your time, and to all those who provide, maintain and contribute to this valuable forum.
