Question: Nice moon phase watches?
on: October 22, 2019, 11:32:35 AM
I always liked the moon (sun) phase watches.

Does anyone knows a beautiful one? I don't care about the brand, just the look.

I've seen a beautiful Seiko, but I think it could be more out there.

Thanks in advance for your input/pics

This Stuhrling skeletonized watch has always caught my eye...if a bit rich in price.

https://www.amazon.ca/Stuhrling-Original-127A-333531-Emperors-Automatic/dp/B003X0Y2KS/ref=sr_1_17?keywords=watch+Stuhrling&qid=1571739916&sr=8-17

With that said, I have a thing for the various Casio moon/tide phase digital watches. I find them quite serviceable. Got 3 of those so far.

Casio Paw1500 Pathfinder.

Casio G-Shock G7900 Rescues.

Also a Casio fan here  :salute:.

I only have one "moon phase" watch though, most of my G-shock are ABC watches.

Here's my "moon phase" G-Shock, a titanium Sea Pathfinder (the one on the left).  Sadly it's a non-solar watch, and it drains batteries with its dual layer screen (for the compass etc.)

Ball Trainmaster Moon Phase watch. Only moon phase mechanical that I have. Has H2 tubes on the moon face, so glows permanently (along with all other markers). Beautiful blue sunburst dial, can’t see in the pic (hands at 11:00 so also covers the moon a bit), but you’ll find pics of it online.  :tu:

I have a Seiko with moon phases. The moon phases don´t run very accurately over longer periods of time. For that, you may want a watch by Dutch watchmaker Christiaan van der Klaauw; astronomical complications are his specialty and his moon watch will run accurately for life (but be prepared to pay $ 40,000 or more).

Quote from: Christiaan van der Klaauw
Our hand-made 3D miniature moon indicates the moon phase so accurately that it deviates only one day in 11,000 years. It is the most accurate 3D moon phase in the world ever incorporated in a mechanical watch.
