Bladeless SAK Project: Main Blade Replacement
on: August 06, 2022, 09:33:26 PM
Attempting another SAK mod- this time a Baldeless 91mm SAK- and I’m looking for some advice.
I’ve seen that it’s possible to buy aftermarket 91 mm scales that have no cutout so therefore the main blade/small blade layer could just be eliminated. However I thought it might be cool to keep the corkscrew and replace the small blade with the combo-tool but then what could replace that main blade

It’s a tough one because the thickness of the main blade layer does not really match any other tool that I can think of (that’s not saying much) also the main blade rests at a slight angle when closed. So this leads me to think the only way to utilize that layer would be to get rid of the combo tool and maybe put two tools that equal the thickness of that corkscrew layer. Anybody have any thoughts about this or have attempted anything like this please let me know.  :salute:

I’ve searched on here for similar attempts but I’m not the best at searching for stuff  :ahhh

Poncho made me a bladeless Yeoman with the file and combo tool.  I know he had to do some work to make it fit correctly and there is some rub but that is an option.

I believe I made a spacer to off set the file similar to the main blade as well but it wasn't perfect :ahhh

It did work but as Sos said, it still rubbed :ahhh

Very interesting. The file would make for an excellent blade replacement because it still has some point to it at the end. It’s not a tool that I use very often but it does seem like a logical choice.
Thanks SOS and poncho for your replies.
