True. So here’s a new thread to open the discussion, taking your original suggestion as a start  :salute:

Sounds good  :tu: I think a TSA safe SAK is not possible. For them even the awl or file could be considered a stabbing weapon

True.  I did remove the blade on a rambler, hoping the next time I have to fly, that it will at least pass giving me the very basics.

So first discontinued build is done!  :woohoo:  :woohoo:

Took a current Handyman and swapped the CS for a Phillips to make a Craftsman.  :salute:

Took me only one hour to do as I did not do a full disassembly.

Used a small Tinker as donor, and turned this into a Tourist, so nothing wasted. All I used was an inch of new 2.2mm rod.

I took photos of the swap, so will post a ‘how to’ in the mod section.

Sadly (for me)...this build has a new owner already, so I have to say goodbye to it.

Nice mod! I still prefer the cs over the backside Phillips though.

Was a customer order, just so happened to align with this thread! I also find the CS more classical for SAKs.  :iagree:

Here’s the ‘How To’ on the corkscrew/Phillips swap: https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,83228.0.html

Engineer
Oath of Rutli
Grand Prix
Deluxe Climber
Motorist
SwissFlame :)

Gotta agree with FiL that an Engineer would be awesome, but I'm sure the bottle neck there would be the technician's screwdriver.  Are those even produced on a modern SAK that could be cannibalized for parts?  I'm thinking not.

Correct. No longer found on any current 91mm SAK. And I trawled through my local online used sites and no used examples available with this tool, so sadly this cannot be built.

Currently the Mechanic and CS version of it (1.3623) are high on the list.

...here’s the 1.3623 recreation.  :salute:

AKA Oath of Rutli, although sans the additional artwork. Basically a Mechanic with CS. Appears to have been relatively uncommon and nameless, but it’s a nice tool load.

More pics to follow once finished!

I can (at last) be proud of my peening.  :salute:

Even gave them a polish 😁

And then they get hidden under the scales...well, at least I know it’s a job well done.

Found some transparent blue scales...so the peening is visible.

Max, as I have seen first hand and live and in person, your peening is virtually indistinguishable from Ibach's.

Please let me know when you find that little local machine shop that can make up a batch of technician's screwdrivers.  I'll be first in line for a South African Engineer.   :)

Thank you Myron. As a hobby, I expect to stay with low volume builds and brass rod. And with each build I learn a little more about this technique.

I have a local knife maker that will gladly make tools for me (one-offs and small batch), but I need a sample!

I've done a few recreation SAK mods over the years (Clipper, Woodsman, Passenger and Scientist come to mind) but, ironically, my favourite was made by someone else.  What is it I hear you ask?  The Grand Prix.  Especially awesome with the newer, more aggressive, file.
