Dremel cutting out

Hello from a new user.
My Dremel 2000 has just started cutting out whilst in use. It's not overheating. This only happens when handheld and changing orientation, from facing up to facing down for example. Squeezing the case can either activate or deactivate, at random. Opening it revealed nothing untoward, mains cable is tight, brushes are good, etc.
Any suggestions? Thx in advance.

Or possibly an internal break in a wire (looks good on the outside, but a gap in the conductor).  Try wriggling one wire at a time to see if you can locate it.

My unit at work would act like that, turned out to be the brush springs we’re getting weak.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Welcome to MT.O, Jan marten! I have a model 395 that used to act like that three times ( I've had it since 1989) and resulted from a broken connection between one of the connectors where the switch goes into the field assembly, and a  field wire. You can test as explained by gregozobe, only this time you'll need to take it apart to get around for the field connectors. If it is a broken wire, you may buy a replacement field or, find a piece of a multistranded copper wire with the same strand gauge as the brokrn field wire, cut one strand, and solder it between the broken one ( I know it works, because that is what I did when the replacement field broke; has not ever since). Good luck with it, as it is a very good tool. Drop a line if you need more help. :tu:

With help from YouTube I separated all the internal parts and in doing so a tiny part of a metal clip fell onto my workbench! After much searching I located its original position - where the coil wires attach to the cage. Couldn't re-fit the broken piece but could tweak the remaining part to give a good connection.
