Swiss Army 7 Modded with Chisel?
« on: December 07, 2019, 02:35:45 PM »
Has anyone modded the Swiss Army 7 and replaced the can opener with a Spirit X version Chisel?

Think that would be a more prefect tool arrangement. :D

I assume you meant to say replaced the hawk's bill pruner blade, and not the can opener, with a chisel?  I haven't done this, but you're right it would make a nice tool set.

What can opener? The SA7 doesn't have a can opener...

Would sharpening the bottle opener have the desired effect?

Probably, though would be worried about heat damage is using a Dremel tool to make the circular cutting on the side and ends. And if would need to send in for repair that would be violating the warranty - not that I've heard of SAK breaking.

Did have to send the S557 EvoWood in for pliers exchange and something else. I'd trade the S557 for this knife if someone was interested in such a trade. The S557 has very nice scales and nail tool, past that think the only thing I used was that oddly shaped awl - it has a wiggle on the end.  But works great for paracord and knots.
The wrench was dissapointing... and the pliers, meh.

Nar, just go slow if using a dremel or do it by hand with a bastard and round file.

Do wonder though, is the Chisel's steel more sturdy than a Bottle Opener, or about that same?

When does Victorinox come out with new knives, or they just the same old thing (repetitively) with only a change in scales? Would be good to see some innovation in the SwissTool/Spirits in 2020.
