Glock? Isn't that a plastic gun? So people can hide them better or that it is more comfy to carry around? Who the h.ll did invent something like that??  :ahhh  Please if you have one (or any gun), get rid of it. Not a lot of good things are  ever came with those things. Please find a less dangerous hobby or get another proffesion if you are a criminal.

Are you serious?  :pok:

Is that so weird that I do not like things designed to kill?

Firearms aren't designed to kill. They are designed for target practice and protection. Before I go on a rant,  :b2t:

To be fair it is a little bit on topic...that is one of the reasons I dont support Leatherman.  Although my move to SOG was really driven off the compound leverage....that was a huge benefit.  I carry a Spirit S when I need something smaller and its been a great tool for day to day use at the office.

I think the thing that puts me off plastic the most is that it's somewhere for moisture to collect and turn to rust (regardless of the manufacturer!) :-\

I too prefer a multitool to be made from all-metal.

That being said however, why is it that Leatherman is thought poorly of for using plastic in non-load-bearing areas, but Victorinox and Wenger are not criticized for having plastic scales on their SAK's? What is the difference? ???
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Double standard. BTW are alox scales scratch resistant or are they like Squirt scales?

They are extremely durable. Plus, the LM plastic is zytel which is basically impervious to the elements...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zytel

Apparently not all Zytel formulations are the same. Calling a nylon Zytel is kinda like saying that a metal is steel.

It looks like SOG and Gerber use Zytel as well (according to Wikipedia anyway).

It's not that I mind LM using plastic - I just really dislike the design of those specific zytel handles. I think people would have complained just as much if the Spirit or SwissTool had the exact same inserts.

To be fair, I have gotten used to the zytel handles. Now, it's just when I am feeling "nitpicky" that they bug me...  :ahhh :D

I actually prefere Alox tbh :)

Plus the scales have been around since the year dot, and carry additional tool as well, so there's no prejudice against them as they've always been there in one form or other :)

It does seem a bit short, but I like the compactness because of it.

I am yet to actually use it as it is really just a tool I keep in the car in case of emergencies, but I like the build quality of it.  I think it would work well when needed.
