I made an account to reply to this thread.

It seems like Powerful Pete pocket screwdrivers were made by a couple of different companies during the time that they were in production. That, or the same company made them but they stuck different companies names on to them.

Powerful Pete pocket screwdrivers were produced around 1950, and sold at places such as road-side service stations as a little cheap keyring attachment.

They are now very hard to find for sale. I own one, and have two more on the way from the US.

They truly are a really useful little tool.

I have attached a couple of images of my Powerful Pete that I bought from Canada a few months ago.

Also, I saw a few replies to this thread that mentioned people not being able to find the Colt or Smith & Wesson pocket screwdrivers (the originals, not fakes). Well, I have located a collection of both.

They are both for sale from American sellers on eBay. I am providing the links below, just in case you want to buy one for your keyring. :)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/360525824689 - Colt pocket screwdriver

http://www.ebay.com/itm/360525840425 - Smith & Wesson screwdriver

I am building up my collection of Powerful Pete screwdrivers.
One for the keyring, the rest for the collection.

A whole bunch of companies created similar pocket screwdrivers. As you know, Colt and S&W made some. Jim Beam made some, too.

I just gave away my 1960s Jim Beam pocket screwdriver, but I have some photos of it.

The Powerful Pete in the photos is the one I currently have. The Jim Beam one is the one I gave away. I will post photos of my new ones when they arrive.

I hope this helps you out a bit.

Hi Guys

I thought it better to re open an old thread rather than start a new one!

Just thought I would share this little item with you.

Picked it up at a Garage Sale recently.

I have not seen anything like it before and neither have the people I have shown it to. So I figure that they are not very common here in Australia!

Powerful Pete Pocket Screwdriver!

Marked on the Obverse:
Powerful Pete
Pocket Screw Driver
Fits most screws
Winson Metal Works

Marked on the Reverse:
Image of a 5 leaf clover

32mm across the body.
41 mm across the screwdriver tips.

I should have realised that such an item would have been of more interest to Multi Tool collectors than to Blade Ware collectors where I usually hang out.

It then occurred to me that you blokes might like to see it.

This one surprisingly has a 5 leaf clover. Most others seem to only have a 4 leaf clover.

I could not find anything on Winson Metal Works.

It has no rust and I am not sure if it is Stainless Steel or Chrome Plated Tool Steel.

I hummed and arred about keeping it as it would make a great conversation piece. But I am a knife collector and if I keep every interesting piece of kit that comes along it only detracts from my core collection. I am sure you blokes can identify with that! I already EDC a Leatherman Mini Tool. So I wont be keeping it and I already have it on offer elsewhere.

If anyone wanted more pictures of it for their records just let me know. military.knives@gmail.com

I've kept a Craftsman version in my wallet for a few years now. I don't use it much but it is very handy when I use it!  :tu:

I have the mate to your Powerful Pete.
I purchased mine on ebay from Australia.

I need to take a pic of the collection, it's gotten rather..... extensive.

I have a couple Craftsman version and keep one in my wallet. Like a few have said, it doesn't see much use - really only when out and about, and I need something sturdier than the  driver on my Classic. Tis small and slim enough to stay in my wallet unnoticed, until it's needed.
