Thank you!
A question ( I'm trying to map a rough schedule for different activities for the rest of year): Is Wine Master (or Sentinel) considered eligible for this?
I've been eying a couple of bottles of Brunello (my favorite) and their time might be up in November but I'd like to use Wine Master for opening, so I'm wondering if it fits the challenge?
Sentinel on the other hand would fit couple of tasks/edc for some days/activities that currently seem to be landing to November.

I can’t see why not because the description on the awards list just says “2 layers or fewer” without a length limit.

Just taken delivery of a rather appropriate waiter that I think is keen to pop its challenge cherry with me! I’m in if you are still taking entries..?

Nice idea, ElevenBlade!  :hatsoff: Such a challenge would be tempting

Yep, I'm going to propose this challenge in the next year, and also a 111mm challenge. A keyring sized tool challenge would probably be best in the winter.... whereas a 111mm challenge would be better in the spring when outdoor activities can start.

Well, we now have 30 participants  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

At this rate we could all just do one post each (based on our position, I'm No: 19) and have the rest of the month off

But, where's the fun in that  :dunno:

This looking to be a good one  :tu:

I'll have to sort out those of mine that qualify  :D

I wonder what the largest number of participants in a 30-day challenge has been so far.

I think you should try the Spartan.  It's the direct descendant of the Swiss Army Officers and Sportsman's knife.

The other options you mentioned... Cadet would be a similar challenge but with a fewer selection of implements, and also a smaller historical significance...  And you could save your keychain tool for the Circle of Keyring Tools Challange in 2021.

I sort of think the Spartan deserves it's own challenge. It is such an excellent knife.  :tu:

And....yet....it does not feel like a 'minimalist knife' to me. As you say, Mr Eleven, it's practically a Swiss Officer's Knife! If I have a Spartan in my pocket...I feel well equipped.   :D

I think Barry may be on to something.......

Jack, I think I'm going to try it with my keychain Classic.  I've been wanting to do a Classic challenge for awhile.

Hard to get much more 'minimal' than a Classic.......  :ahhh

I've been wanting to do a challenge with the Classic forever.  My wife is my inspiration.  She's edc'd her Classic, non stop, since 1978.

My wife had a classic on her keychain when I met her that had been there from college.  It had a cracked scale which later fell off.

It was replaced by a rambler that is part of a 5th Anniversary pair.

I dug a few minimal SAK's out of the drawer.......

Vic Classic w/lanyard, Vic Classic w/o lanyard, Wenger Esquire in Jelly Orange, Vic Ambassador, Vic Executive

As I look at the above snap, it occurs to me that I have more Classics than any other model of SAK. The Chuck Yeager Challenge has already been done a couple of times with the Executive. Even the Executive seems to be more than 'minimal' to me now..... The Ambassador may be even better than the Executive: similar functionality for less weight/bulk. The Wenger.....hmmm...sort of a Classic that has been improved. The Wenger is just a wee bit bigger, but still feels like a lot more knife....

Yeah....

Using a Wenger 65mm for this challenge would almost be cheating....

So....it looks like the Classic will have to stand tall for this minimal challenge. No pesky lanyard to get in the way....just pure SAK!  :tu:

Then a Classic it will be for me too!     I actually have a few on hand, too.  My EDC is a plain hunter green SD that hangs from a swivel ring on my keychain.    It never asks for anything, and is always there for me to use.
