Day 8: Another one of those iconic knives that belongs in every collection, a Ka-Bar.  This is the little 9 inch version.

Day 4: Sharp 380

Today I used my grandfather's knife to slice up a mango, and then to eat it. I love the long little blade for mangos, it lets me slice it into quarters and then work the meat away from the pit with the narrow blade. It also skins the mango nicely.  I remember my grandfather using this knife as a kid, and after both grandparents died I laid claim to it as the only thing I wanted from the estate. It was the only thing left that meant anything to me, and mom and her sister had no interest in a little old pocket knife.

It's not anything special, it's a Sharp brand knife, model 380, sold by K-Mart back in the day.

Charles.

DAY 8

I went fishing this afternoon , nothing much to report but it was peaceful and relaxing , I caught loads of fish but they were all small.
My Ebony 110 came along.

The handle on that is almost an optical illusion.  Looks like leather and wood at the same time.  Beautiful.

DAY 8
Schrade SCHF2SM.  I'm not a big fan of Schrade in general on their fixed blade line, but I have always loved this knife.  Hollow handled knife made from a solid piece of 1070.  It originally comes with the whole knife painted in gunboat gray.  I stripped the blade portion and put a patina on it.  Even though they knurled the handle portion it is still kind of slippery if your hands are wet, so I added some Talon gun grip tape to the handle and cap.  I keep a small fishing and fire kit in the handle, some first aid stuff in the pouch and an Arkansas stone on the end of the sheath.
