There is a Spyderench for sale at a local auction site with 20 min left, but it's way to expensive for me now.

North of 400 seems common for a Spyderench,  300ish for the Byrd version. On Ebay, that is.

Not sure if they are getting asking price though.

Oh yeah, that is way to much. I wonder what the sold ones have gone for on the offers?  :dunno:

I love my Spydies so I am in for this, baring any air travel that may preclude it. By August I am sure we will all be living underground so it shouldn’t be a problem.

I'm trying to diversify my Spyderco portfolio from two Ladybugs to at least something decent. Byrd has some nice offerings, but for some reason, I haven't looked at them a whole lot, but they are far superior to anything in their price point.  I have the Rescue 2, and use it hard here on the farm. I'm looking at the Cara Cara 2 Emerson as my next purchase.

I bought this Harpy for $50 on another forum (plus $5 shipping) for use in the challenge. This is a model I've wanted to try for a long time, being as it is basically the older, and bigger brother to my Ladybug Hawkbill. At 3 7/8 closed--perfect!   From what I'm reading on the Spyderco Wiki, this specific variation of it (no Boye dent, patent on clip, G-2/GIN-1 steel)was produced between 1996-1998, meaning it's roughly as old as I am. There is no Boye dent either, interestingly enough.

There's so many models in Spyderco's relatively short history.  I'd love to find the Spyderco History book that was published some years ago.

I’m thinking of joining this challenge, but would like a little help.

My only Spyderco is a ParaMil 2, which is a little too big and not my normal style for edc.  I recently discovered two models that are more my style and despite being discontinued I know where I can buy them.  I also have a little cash available, thanks to answering a WTB on another forum.

So between the Mantra 3 or the Hanan, which should I get?

I think the Hanan would be a great choice!  To be honest, it's one that I don't hear much about which intrigues me all the more.

Are you really asking this here?! I think the answer is obvious by now... BOTH!

  i know.  That is my problem.  I like the looks and specs of both, but at least at this point in time I only have funds for one.

I think the Hanan would be a great choice!  To be honest, it's one that I don't hear much about which intrigues me all the more.
I think the Hanan is the one I’m leaning more toward.  I’ve heard good things about Southard, but nothing really about the Hanan.

Another aspect that has me leaning towards the Hanan is while the Mantra is still available from a few dealers, I’ve only seen the Hanan for sale on the bay in one.  I might actually have a chance of getting the Mantra later.
