I agree.  For that reason alone I'd go for the Hanan.  With Spyderco, you never know when something is going to be quietly discontinued.

  i know.  That is my problem.  I like the looks and specs of both, but at least at this point in time I only have funds for one.
(Image removed from quote.)I think the Hanan is the one I’m leaning more toward.  I’ve heard good things about Southard, but nothing really about the Hanan

Another aspect that has me leaning towards the Hanan is while the Mantra is still available from a few dealers, I’ve only seen the Hanan for sale on the bay in one.  I might actually have a chance of getting the Mantra later.

Huh... it's the Spyderco Southard Hanan.

I think that's not a bad choice, the Mantra looks very Persistence/Resilience-ish. The Hanan is more unique.

  :tu:

I think I'm going to use a Spyderco Military for the challenge.

No real reason. It's just a nice, simple, functional, big folder.   :dunno:

Good choice.  :tu:  The Military is my favorite Spyderco and one of my most favorite knives. It's big, light, pointy and sharp. What's not to like.     :D
What? Enablers! Are you serrrrious? Where? I dont see any.

I initially was going to carry the Autonomy the whole way, but now I think I'm going to do a rotation of my modest collection.  We'll see as the time draws closer.  I can't believe the 4th is almost over.

What Japan and USA models (other than the UKPK; which I had at one point--knife store had them really cheap here in town) are a bit bigger than the Dragonfly, but no bigger than 4" (about 3.5-3.75") closed?  At 3.75" closed, the Byrd Meadowlark is perfect, and I am getting one of those, but I'm wondering about what regular Spydercos are that size.

The Native 5 or Lil’ Native sound like they might be what you are looking for.

Hmmmmmm my track record for challenges isn't great usually life gets in the way and I don't get to post images ! I enjoy following them though.
I do carry a dragonfly salt serrated every day and a saver salt when I'm sea kayaking.  . . . . My partner has a ladybug salt so spydercos aren't a problem  :D

Go on then, I'm in  ::) I only have a Manix 2 Lightweight (courtesy of a great deal by Leathermanluva  :hatsoff: )

It's not my usual EDC (UK knife laws...blah, blah etc.  )  So I may struggle but, why not  :dunno:

I have a £27 credit with HH so maybe I'll add another before/during the challenge

The Hanan arrived!  Unfortunately, I may now understand why Spyderco flipper knives seem to always get discontinued.  The Hanan looks and feels great.  I like both the size and blade shape.  Now the disappointing part...Out of about 25 flips, it only flipped fully open to locked once with flicking the wrist also.  It opens much smoother with only flicking the wrist and not even than using the flipper.

But with that said, I’m still going to join.  Who knows maybe I’ll end up getting my hands on a more typical Spydie before the challenge actually starts.

:iagree:  For some reason, some Spydies leave Spydercontrol  a little tighter than others.  Just do like a certain Norwegian farmer did on YouTube with his Para 3, just keep flicking!
