Making Evolution series knife non locking
on: January 01, 2020, 10:32:29 PM
Apologies if this has been covered (I did a search but couldn't find anything), but is there a way to easily mod the Evolution series SAKs so that their blades are non locking so as to comply with UK legislation? I really fancy an S557 but it's pointless getting one unless I can make it non locking :(

I don't have one of the Evolution S series knives to check.  Hopefully someone will be along with a specific answer.

However, in general the problem with simply removing the lock from a knife is that the backspring, if present at all, is generally too weak for safe/effective use without the lock.

:tu: I've looked at a couple of reviews online and the back spring at least *appears* to be of similar stiffness to a regular non-locking blade....
