Careful, Fuzzy. I've seen Monty Python. I know what those rabbits are capable of.......  :ahhh

I took a hike up to that very cave a while back, no killer rabbit thankfully but i did find a holy hand grenade someone kindly left just incase, i had the Wenger 505 with me so between that and the grenade i thought i'd be ok, i think Fuzzy is asking for trouble going anywhere near that without the grenade  :dwts:

Day 30  No issues with the Swisstool but then i didn't expect any, nothing really to report, they just work  :tu:

 :hatsoff:  Day 30 -  :multi:
Last day to report before moving into Buck110 mode.

This is the first I actually utilized my Spirit for actual use.  I always looked at it as a piece of ART. and was afraid it was to delicate for my needs.  Well I was so wrong!

It is tough, it is elegant, it pretty, and it is tough.

I selected my Spirit model because I have been impressed with Victorinox serrated blades. And it did not disappoint.  Yet there were times a spear point would have been handy, I learned to use the AWL or edge of the chisel.

I have enjoyed the Spirit’s companionship, and hardiness, BUT, I do think I spent as much time polishing it as using.

I do wish a model was available with the A spear point serrated blade like the one on the Spartan/Weekender.

My final picture for the challenge-

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

The Swisstool and Spirit are still by far my favorite MTs and I find it impressive just how "right" Vic got it with these tools.  They have stood the test of time with minimal changes in the design and are still just as relevent today as when fist introduced.  Having joined MTO and been through several challenges over the past three years there are a few things in other brands that I think Vic could incorperate into their design.  I would love to see a OHO main blade, bit holder (maybe along the lines of what SOG did on the Powerplay), wider opening pliars, larger wire cutting area, wire crimpng tool, Spirit chisel on all models, Swisstool Scissors an all models, and maybe a diamond file. One last thing and this goes for all Vic tools, STOP polishing the drivers so much, an unpollished driver grips better.  Although I would like to see a Swisstool veriant with these features, it does not deminish my LOVE of the tools just as the are.  As we would say in Texas, VICTORNOX ya' done GOOD!
Now Mods any chance we might see Swisstool and Spirt Collector badges pop up anytime soon? :pok: :pok:

Thanks guys for the kind comments on the OL' hobbled '98, and thanks to everyone who has joined in to make this such an awlsome challenge.  I have been honored to be part of this with ALL of you.
One more quick comment,
I often see people commenting on Vic blade steel being to soft but I put both the blades on that tool through YEARS of constant use cutting everthing from cardboard to wire insulation to leather, wood and PVC.  Rearly have I ever had to do more than touch them up on a fine steel.  Vic blade steel is just like a good woman and another thing they got right.  One just needs to know how to take care of it, a little gentle stroking goes a long way.

LC pick up as Spirit XBS or DAK and your pollishing delima will be over, with the DAK you'll give up the scissors but you'll get the spear point SE blade in it's place along with a PE spear point blade instead of the combo butter blade.

I have to make a retraction.
LC I got the Spirit DAK and the Swisstool Ausi NATO confused.
The DAK has a spear point PE and the combo Butter blade, while the Ausi NATO has both PE& SE spear point blades.  I was however right about giving up the scissors on both models.

You leave my old bird alone!  :twak: She didn't survive shooters and the cold winter for you to do things... unnatural.

Day 30

The Spirit didn’t get a lot of use despite the fact that I’ve had a busy day with different household task.  The Spirit did however help with opening a snack when it was time to sit and relax.

March 31 (more bonus material):

Finished up a few extra masks. Swisstool helped with sniping and cutting again. Hope to do a few more tomorrow, then drop 'em off at the hospital. For these, I tried to imagine what would go with Fuzzy's special pajamas and bunny slippers.

I loved this challenge and all the participation.  Even though it is harder to keep up with challenges with larger participation, I find them more fun due to the variety in use and pictures.

I usually carry a 3-4 layer SAK and not a plier-based multitool, so this challenge was a definite change for me, which taught me a few things:
- The Spirit is definitely my favorite multitool.  One of the biggest reasons is the outside access to all the tools.  I don’t really like having to open up the tool to then open the tool that I want to use.
- The package opener tool is an awesome tool that works real well.    Whether boxes, plastic clam shell packaging or plastic ties; it just works.
- The scissors aren’t as nice as a 91mm SAKs, but they still work fairly well.  Also, the mod was simpler than I thought and helped make them better
- As far as carrying weight, the Spirit didn’t feel much different than a SAK when put in my pocket organizer.
- Despite the above I just prefer 91mm SAKs if I can get away with it.  They just feel so right when using and opening.
- In my day-to-day life I don’t have a lot of need for pliers, which is good considering my preference for SAKs.
- I love and missed the SAK magnifying glass.  Even though I had a standalone one available during this challenge, on several occasions I reached first for my SAK and was a little disappointed when I found the Spirit in its place.

I love the Spirit, but it is not going to displace my SAKs with magnifying glass.
