Well, I have been on the hunt for this Wenger 100 year anniversary knife for awhile. Here it is;

It is a Wenger Standard Issue with 1990 tang stamp and special blade engraving all in a very nice presentation case. It even comes with the original owners receipt for it back in 1990. The knife is in perfect condition.

Now for my new Victorinox 1891-1991 centennial knife. This is the one with the special Victorinox shield with the dates above and below the shield and is serial numbered. It is a 1991 Climber model with no keyring in a felt lined luxury box that has seen better days. The knife is like brand new showing only the most minor marks from showing it off. Here it is;

Those look like really nice things to have stressmaster.

I guess I won't be around to seek out the Leatherman 100th Anniversary models, but hey, they may have found a cure for death in 75 years time?
I used to come here a lot.

Nice SAKS  :tu:

I was outbid on one of the commemorative Vics. the other week.  It didn't go for too much but the combination of the pound's current lousy value and the silly £8 handling charge Royal Mail impose means that buying from the US is getting more and more difficult :(

Speaking of commemoratives, I bought these over the past month:

1884-1984 100 Year Victorinox Knives (Champion & Classic):
1897-1997 100 Year SAK Knife (Spartan):
I like that 1884 set. I have one of the larger 1884 anniversary pieces and the classic. I think its a Tinker model. There were several pieces made all serial numbered and in limited quantity. The champion is obviously the hardest piece to get. I would say that set together is a very nice find.
For some reason that 1897 knife is rather common here in the US. I have 2, 1 NIB bought for about $23 that included S&H, and then I found a used one for less than $10 including S&H.
I also have one of the 1291-1991 anniversary knives with Confoederatio Helvetica and group of 3 guys with 3 fingers each. I have found that piece to be very hard to track down and when it is available you have plenty of competition for it. It is a used piece and needs to be cleaned and photographed, so when thats done I will post a photo of it.

stessmasater5000:

I bought both sets (and the other two pictured to the right of the Spartan set- a SwissFlame and Deluxe Angler) at a luggage booth in an underground shopping center in Seoul, ROK.

I found some other interesting ones, i.e. German OHT, for example, at another booth nearby, but the owner was out and not available.

How much is the 1884-1984 Champion-Classic set worth?

FYI to all: it seems there are ALOT of Champions laying around here in Korea.  I left mine at home in the States for fear of confiscation.  Nothing to worry after I tested the waters.  I bought a used Champion for $30 at a pawn shop last FEB, and cleaned it up...was nasty looking when I bought it, cleaned and buffed it out, looks excellent.  I found some more Champions floating around, around 3 that I can think of.  Need new handles, at least one does.  All are pre-1987 models (like my first one and the ones I have here and in the States).  Prices, however, are a crap shoot.

MOLON LABE!

Now that's a loaded question since basically its value is what someone is willing to spend to get it, especially for older discontinued items. I would guess the set is worth more than its original retail price tag providing its NIB, but even a used set or single can command prices that rival or exceed the original retail value.

Here are some figures regarding numbers made and some Vic web links I found in another forum question;

Victorinox 100th Anniversary of the swiss army knife 1897-1997:

1.3603.J97 (Spartan) "Jubiläumsmesser 100 Jahre Offiziersmesser" 1997 = 52'510 copies
1.6794.J97 (SwissChamp) "Jubiläumsmesser 100 Jahre Offiziersmesser" 1997 = 35'980 copies

Victorinox 100 year Anniversary 1884-1984:

0.6203.JU (Classic) "Jubiläumsmesser 100 Jahre Victorinox" 1984 - 41'300 copies
0.3603.JU (Tourist) "Jubiläumsmesser 100 Jahre Victorinox" 1984 - 12'800 copies
0.4603.JU (Tinker) "Jubiläumsmesser 100 Jahre Victorinox" 1984 - 9'800 copies
1.5793.JU (I think it is the Champion Plus) "Jubiläumsmesser 100 Jahre Victorinox" 1984 - 15'640 copies

Victorinox Centennial Edition 1891-1991:
There is a document with the knife that says 5000 copies with serial numbers were produced.

Also here is some of the 1291-1991 Knives;
1.3713.91 Jubiläumsmesser 700 Jahre Eidgenossenschaft 1991 - 30'580 copies
1.3603.91 Jubiläumsmesser 700 Jahre Eidgenossenschaft 1991 - 53'440 copies
0.6223.91 Jubiläumsmesser 700 Jahre Eidgenossenschaft 1991 - 25'730 copies

Here is a photo of the 700 year anniversary knife. Its a Victorinox Huntsman model 1291-1991 commemorative knife with Confoederatio Helvetica and 3 guys who look like those lizard men from that old Saturday morning cartoon "Land of the Lost". They look like they have 3 fingers each. Seriously, look closely at their hands.  :pok:  :rofl:

Here is a link to the Victorinox press release web photo;

While these pieces are not serial numbered they still seem hard to find for sale. Maybe they are all hiding in some SAK collectors garage.  ;)
