Need lanyard ring on this Victorinox mod
on: January 19, 2020, 12:55:44 AM
I love everything about this modded Victorinox/Wenger except that it didn't come with a lanyard ring.
Is my only option a tear down (which I don't have the skills to do), in order to get a lanyard ring on it?
Ideas?  I don't want to have a sheath on it, as I prefer the knife at the ready when I bring it out of my pocket.
The scales are eco scales.
Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

Without a tear down; may I suggest having a thin paracord (not the 550 type)  loop/ fob  around one of the corkscrew's loops? It will sit close to the knife's midline, but still workable to pull the knife out and keep the eyeglasses screwdriver.

That is a good idea, I will try that.  :like:

Amazing MOD
Thank you Aloha!  I really like it too.  It's an 85mm with just the tools I most likely use in an urban environment.

I can't come up with anything else that doesn't involve glueing stiff to the scale

The corkscrew lanyard is an elegant fix. I did one a few years back - here's the thread.....

I'll work on it and show my results.

Right, I was trying to not glue anything to the scale.

If you are familiair with 3d design (or know someone who is) you might also want to consider 3d printing some kind of accessory if the corkscrew solution doesn't work out the way you wanted.

I am thinking something really small and thin that you might put around or clamp under one of the tools.

If you don't mind, can we have a low light/dark picture, just to "see it in action"? I'd certainly appreciate it.  :hatsoff:

FB, I quite like how this turns out, the split ring doesn't even have to go down the spiral and the eyeglass screwdriver probably may be able to lock it in place.

I have been attaching tritium lanyard onto SAKs, and they are really decent to for easy spotting at night.

But not to steal the thunder from the owner, there is a pretty cool mod recently completed that would blow all my GITD scales and tritium lanyard out of the water...

This is just the problem I recently have to deal with. I picked up a used 91mm Mountaineer on "The Bay" and when I had cleaned it up I realized it had no ring.

I use a mini pocket dangler front right pocket carry with a small clip attached to thedangler so I can easily swap MTs so this lack of a ring seemed an insurmountable problem.  :ahhh  Well, thanks to this board I now have a possible solution, though since I carry the tool vertically next to my wallet I don't want the tool connected at the center.

At least there is hope!  :woohoo:

I forgot I actually have a solution in use for months now

I have a leather slip that I pushed a metal eye through. Attached a P7 clip to keep it upright in my pocket and the SAK drops right in.

It's upright, protected and easy to grab :D

Again...
