I think hobo knives are really cool. I got my first exposure to folding/stacking/collapsible/detachable kitchen stuff in the Scouts as a kid. This clapped-out hobo was given to me as a trinket several years ago, and I made the mistake of treating it as if it was as cheap as its price tag. I put it into service at work and frankly didn't take good care of it. And wouldn't you know, it lasted, then broke soon after. :( That's what I get.
It's no longer safe to reach for without looking, and the spoon's wobbly and makes me miss. Have to get a new one.
Would someone tell me the correct name of the retention/detention springamathing that broke?

I know these are all over the place. It was nice to find a replacement in original packing.

It looks like you broke a back spring.  Opposite of the tool it keeps tight the back spring is what keeps the tool open or makes it snug when it is closed. That's why your spoon is now floppy.  A tool like the Ozark Trail is pretty much considered disposable anyway.
