Been complaining about something until you're blue in the face, have you?

This color is wonderful! I bought one for collection but it's too beautiful and it became my edc! I will buy another for sure!
btw comparing the 2020 pioneer with a regular one I noticed that the tool seems to be thinner on the 2020 especially the blade and the bottle opener... I'm worried, could it be because LE are meant only for collection? has anyone noticed the same thing?

Cannot image that they would re-machine the factory tooling just for LEs.

But they have reduced the thickness across the whole range a few times - Certainly for the 91mm models
- Hopefully / we assumed this did not result in a reduction in strength - as the steel improved
So this could be possible.

Have you measured it with a micrometer?

PS. I really like the aqua blue too - But I do not have one :(

That would be worrisome... much of the pull for Alox for me is the thickness of the tools.   How old is the regular one that you are comparing it to?
I'm curious to see what others find.  I fear that this is another case of shaving off a few microns of metal here and there which add up over time to a decrease in quality.

Well it's a Pioneer bought on amazon less than a year ago... unfortunately i don't have the tool to measure it so maybe it's a joke of my eyes... It would be a good thing for all of us if someone could make a comparison with the right tool :D

It would be super cool if it was Rambler, Walker and Farmer.

The tools (minus saw) on both of my 2020 Farmers X are identical to those on my 2016, 2017, and 2019 Pioneers X.

There were other ways to form the plurals, but this was the most fun.

I’m not a machinist, but according to my crusty old vernier micrometer the blade tang of my 2020 Pioneer is 4 thousandths thicker than my 1980s Pioneer...and within a thousandth of my 1963 Soldier.

Don’t draw any firm conclusion from this, as I didn’t try *too* hard to ensure I was measuring at the exact same place on all three knives. But I am convinced that any differences are relatively minor.

I do like the colour, but what sort of durability does that finish have? Is it anodised aluminium, in which case it might be prone to scratching?
