Rebar the new mini???
« on: February 06, 2020, 03:24:03 PM »
Talking with Wspeed about the OHT, and why I’m loving it so much. Which got me to thinking and when I grabbed the Rebar it really hit me. The Rebar felt like a mini multi tool after getting, carrying and handling the OHT. So further thinking got me looking at the SAKs also. When you carry the big Leatherman tools the Rebar is smaller and thinner by comparison. It is slightly smaller than the 111mm and slightly lager than the 91mm. Pocket carry! A few photos showing the differences.

The Rebar is certainly a lot of bang in a small package!  :tu:
I would carry it more often, had it not issues with tool clumping. I hate that.

Love the Rebar and use to carry it lots more :salute: :like:

Great comparison pics, Ray and the Rebar sure is more bang for the buck considering it's size to those 2 particular tools :D :like:

I personally view it as more of a PST replacement. Stronger pliers and implements, replaceable cutters, more comfortable handles,  more tools, all-locking implements, but not a whole lot of extra weight. I EDC it in my front right pocket, along with a PocketWrench II and the removable bit adapter.

:iagree: That is some insite! After seeing the size comparison to the SAK’s it did cross my mind as to carrying it in the pocket! And your right on it being a light weight in comparison and thinner

It does look tiny, but I need a comparison picture with the Mini before I make up my mind. :D

Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

I agree with Cody, Rebar is the modern PST. Compact, smooth and with nothing frivolous.  :like:

It’s also easy to mod with lots of options. I switched out the head, added scissors, diamond file, pocket clip...

A year ago I posted a terribly long-winded  post on this mod I did. Don’t put yourself through the pain of reading it, but there are a few good pics of the Rebar if you scan down the post.

I really wanted to like the Rebar for its tools to size, but the tool clumping and having to open it to access all the tools is why I didn’t like it.

As Steve said, deals can be found if you look long enough :salute: except for BO (the link that Stitchy put is a nice one but a bit rich for my blood).... they are way harder to find normally and usually never cheap  good luck with the search either way, Ray :salute: :tu:

I have said it before,
I luv my Rebars!

Clumping is not an issue for me, actually welcomed as the sensitivity of my hands have become worst since that electrical accident a year ago.

The tool group is perfect for my my needs.

It will interesting next month when I take the Spirit challenge and actually use my new tool instead of the Rebar.

PS: the OHT is a good tool as well, but sized about the same width as the Charge.

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

I'll have to agree with you there LC  :salute:
The tool selection and the size is super handy.
And I don't mind the tool-clumping really.
I love my Rebar  :tu:
