I wish the Rebar had an option for a clip or came with one from the factory. The size is near perfect for pocket carry.

There is a lanyard loop inbuilt on the Rebar and attaching a dangle hook like many do on their SAKs is a good option.

I carry mine usually in a box sheath on my belt at about 4pm.  Or, without the sheath in back jean pocket riding horizontal as lone resident of that pocket.

FWIW, the Spirit does not have a clip option and from observation it requires some special adaption for a lanyard, please correct me if wrong.

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

You are right about the Spirit, it does not have an option for a pocket clip. If I remember correct, someone glued a nite-ize removable clip (or similar) to it and it worked fine. Maybe that would be an option for you

When you look at the grand scheme of things, there is no better bang for your buck then a Rebar. Quite possibly the greatest deal that LM ever put out.

Nite Ize clip actual comes with double sided tape that sticks real well but then comes off clean if you decide you don’t like it.  I used one on the Rebar for a while and it also fit the Spirit.

Is that the HipClip one? The one they sell for mobile devices?

Yes, that is the one I was thinking. I am going to have to try that out as I have changed my 5.11 belt to a wider size and is thinker having two belts together with one side black and the other OD green. My Otter box doesn’t work with it. That clip would solve that problem!

The link Steve shared is the clip I was talking about.

It is a fairly inexpensive option then if you decide you don’t like how it works, it peels off and is easy to clean.

If you're into modding, there are ways to integrate the Wave/Surge removable clip into a Rebar.
Cheers!

Over the years I had and still have different Leatherman multitools: The Wave, Wave+, Charge TTi, Squirt, Micra, MUT, Wingman, PST and probably forgetting one or two.
I also have some Victorinox Spirits and SwissTools.
Being completely satisfied with my favorite Charge TTi and Vic DAK Spirit there was no need for an extra multi-tool.
And I have to admit: I have no need for scissors and I don't like OHO.

However... Last week I saw a LM Rebar Coyote for a reasonable price, so I bought it.
What a fine, lovely multi-tool this Rebar is! I haven't used it yet, but fumbled a bit around and played with it. "I like!" as Borat from Kazachstan would say.

Comparing both multi-tools, I think both have pro's and con's.
The Rebar weighs 188 gram, the Spirit is 210 grams.
The Rebar's tools are not accessible without opening the handles, the Spirit's tools are. The Spirit however is more prone to collect dirt in the handles.
The DAK Spirit has a chisel, the Rebar doesn't.
The Rebar has an eyelet, The Spirit hasn't.
The Spirit has smoother handles. Putting pressure on them doesn't hurt as much as on the Rebar.
The Rebar has replaceable wire cutters. Unfortunately the Spirit has not.
I especially like the indents in the Rebar's handles for opening the knives.
More pro's and con's can be found, but they are small.

Conclusion: Both are amazing multi-tools. You can not go wrong with either one of them. In my opinion these two MT's are the best of both worlds. Not too big, not too small, not too heavy, still suitable for EDC or in a light-medium weight survival kit.
I have a very slight preference for the Rebar, because it's the cheapest of both MT's and has replaceable wire cutters.

If only the Rebar had OHO outside blades. Ironically, whilst locking blades can present issues here in the UK (let's not do that argument again) OHO is not an issue

Therefore, if I'm going to need lawful authority and (or) reasonable excuse to be carrying one, then I'd rather it is OHO as that adds convenience and means that I could actually use it meaningfully at work as well  :tu:

However, I do keep looking at them as I can't find a NIB (or at least minimal use) PST or Mini here in the UK
They don't like it up 'em!
