Let's see your 74mm slips!
on: February 15, 2020, 06:40:35 PM
I am planning on getting a small slip for my Executive, so I would like to see the various slips you all have bought, or made, for your 74mm SAKs!!

Nice VICMAN!!

I am thinking of not using a lanyard on my Executive anymore. Seems like it's always in the way. Rather attach a lanyard to a slip, to ease pulling the entire slip out of my pocket.

Thanks zrxoa1 !

My lanyard is the size that I can slip it over either my index finger or pinky so that I don't have to worry about dropping it and also it allows me to have the closed knife in my hand when I am picking stuff up so that the knife is ready to use if I am repeatedly needing to use the blade,

Just adjust it so that it will fit over both your index finger and pinky finger so you can use it on either one depending on which tool you are using.

Here is the length that works for me

If you wear jeans with a watch pocket you can get by without a slip cover. The Executive fits nicely in the watch pocket. You can put it in the watch pocket so that your finger can catch the lanyard to get it out.

Yep, that's where I carry it when wearing jeans!

Well, about the only jeans I wear ARE carpenter jeans. Can't stand wearing regular jeans anymore.

I also wear cargo pants alot, maybe even more than jeans, especially to work.

But.... I rarely put anything into those pockets on the legs.

I understand that  :tu:
I have been playing around with an ideal for a slip pouch for some items for the cargo pocket. As it is now, I hate hunting for my small fixie as it wants to like at the bottom of the pocket in the horizontal position.

The DMT sheath is perfect, but my 2 EZE-LAP sheathes are also a little big.

If you know anyone who sews leather they could probably restitch it to size and cut off the excess.

If you go to Hobby Lobby or Micheals, they have leather and leather working stuff to make your own. Its not hard, and you get to pick what kind of leather you want as far as color and thickness.
Don't get too serious, just enough will do.

A little late to the game but here is one of several I've made for the classic.  It's a bit smaller than you need but could easily be scaled up.  I find the small lanyard on the slip works well to retrieve the knife from a pocket and I don't need one on the knife.  The leather used is fairly thin and I saddle stitched it but it could also be done on a sewing machine.
