It's such a wired thing to have the handles meet at pliers closed position. It's the only pliers I have that do this  :D

I'm not sure. Chako has a nice Gerber Episode thread here starting from the very first Gerber MT on  https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,65364.msg1245649.html#msg1245649

It looks like around the 5th version of the original Gerber Multiplier they started to address the issue   :salute:
