I just received my first new light in quite a while. I'd stopped buying lights as all my needs were met. That is, until my Orange Nitecore T0 conked out on me.

I needed a new orange light!

I've been a fan of the Nitecore Tube for quite a while, and although Flashaholics has an orange one in stock, I decided to try this Klarus instead.

The thing that made me want to try this one, is that it is infinitely variable, so you can have a low of 1.5 lumen for 24 hrs, 40 lumen for 1 hour, or anywhere between the two. A single click gives you low, a double click gives you high, but if you hold down that second click, the light will gradually ramp up from 1.5 lumen, so you can select as much as you need, but no more.

There is also a semi-momentary mode too. If you press and hold the button when the light is off, it will turn on and quickly ramp up to high, and reverse this back down to off when you let go. Not quite instant, but good enough if you only need the light on for a second or two.

BTW I'm glad I took a photo of the back of the box, as removing the light from the packaging destroyed any instructions and reference points, and I wouldn't have been able to tell you any of that lot without it.  ::)

The light actually comes with its own charging cable, which is nice, as it's always good to have a couple more of those kicking about.

I was surprised to discover that the light is only orange on one side.

Personally, I would have preferred the colour I choose to be on both sides.

The light is fractionally larger than the Nitecore Tube, but there's not a great deal in it. The price is the same too (or was for me).

Having the smaller and lighter construction, and the variable light levels, makes this an improvement for me over the T0 I am replacing, although I can't just drop in a replacement cell if the battery goes flat.

Talking of battery, when plugged in, there is a charging light to let you know it's "cooking"...

... and it's not shy of letting you know when it's fully charged.

So I'm back up and running again, and my orange light needs are satisfied once more.

Why orange? Because I am, to steal the Blues Brothers line, putting the band back together.

Cheers fellers. It does seem a decent little light. I just hope it lasts longer than the Nitecore TO did
