Pipe Tamper?
on: March 24, 2020, 09:57:15 PM
Did either Vic or Wenger ever make a pipe tamper model? (pipe tamper end; stem cleaner pick, blade)
Thanks
Rich

Not to my knowledge.  Both companies offered "cigar cutter" models at one time, though.

There are some good options out there for pipe knives, though.  A.G. Russell, for example, makes a nice one.

Thanks. I have the cigar cutter models and know A.G.Russell's site well.

I've used the bottle opener to tamp before. To be honest the corkscrew would be a better option, I have to try that next time.

I was just inquiring as a collector. My wife gave me a fine metal (German) pipe tamper with foldout stem cleaner, reamer blade and file for my birthday about 50 years ago. Just thought since Vic and Wenger made cigar cutters, they may have made a pipe cleaner.

When I took up the pipe my father in law gave me a beautiful silver tamper with fold out tools, he had inherited it from an uncle. It was then stolen from my case on a flight home a day later.  I now use wooden ones. I would be a sucker for a Victorinox one though!

Very nice looking wood. What type? No Zippo pipe lighter? I was given one a while back, but I prefer Bic type lighters.

The closest things I have. Maybe if I leave them alone awhile they’ll produce a little Vic tamper

Tiger wood, I got it from Etsy years ago. The guy stopped selling there though worse luck, I really like that one. I have two zippo pipe lighters actually, here's one in a pocket dump from earlier this week. I always have a mini bic around my person but the zippo pipe lighter is the best solution I've ever found for outdoors lighting of a pipe.
