splitting up posts
on: April 04, 2020, 02:43:26 AM
I'm sure this will be a pita for the mods but it would be really nice if this part of the forum was divided up into maker sections. I'm not interested in looking at vic mods but only leatherman mods. I have to search through the pages to find things relevant to what I'm interested in.

Anyway, it's just a thought.

I like it as it is. One can see all new mods and posts in a single listing without having to go in and out of subforums.

For many mods the challenges and issues are also the same regardless of maker (say drilling holes in hardened steel and so on) and thus it makes sense to me at least to keep them all collected in one place.

Not sure the volume of posts warrants it.

There was a big recategorisation sort of effort of fora a while back, and...well scroll down the front page and look at the post count or most recent post in some of them.

You should be able to search within the Mod Squad forum for keywords you're after....

Lol, it was only 25 minutes. :D

And I agree with Sea Monster. The search is good, and using '[search term] site:multitool.org' in Google is gold.
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

I would also like to see mods split into categories. It would certainly make searching easier.

Honestly, I feel like MTo already has too many subforums.  I regularly keep up with only 3 or 4 and the rest I'm only an occasional visitor to.

I'm interested in SAK modding, but will glance at the Leatherman modding threads because they're often interesting anyway.  If the non-SAK modding threads were in a different forum I'd probably never read them.

I too think it's good as it is. I do agree that there may be many mods that may not be related, but they are always fun to look at. It helps to keep our mind open. I dun Vics, but many mods do stir me up sometimes.  ;)

Can't agree more with Vidar, Sea Monster Don Pablo, AW, fuzz, Myron and Sam.

For some time now, when I was just lurking the forum or subforums, the search function has been invaluable and quite precise, even for specific mod's.

OT- Kudos to the adm. team for keeping this site organized; I can only guess as to what a challenge must have been when the server had to be changed! THANKS! :hatsoff:

There is a Leatherman specific thread for mods in the LM forum

I just looked at a thread about a Center Drive driver in a Surge.
Many mods involve parts from different manufacturers and some would be hard to classify.
