Madness chain saw user badge request
on: March 30, 2020, 12:03:08 AM
Didn't expect to be requesting a new badge during the March Madness Swistool challenge but here I am.  A couple of days ago I was doing some work on the back of our property and needed to trim back a branch on a thirty foot (10 meter) diameter Mesquite bush.

The Spirit did a wonderful job on the brach I needed to cut at the time.

Sense then I decide to cut down that entire Mesqite and well the Swisstool or Spirit is just not the right tool for the job. So enter the Husqvarna...

Bush has been efectivly cut down and now its just getting rid of the thorny twiggs.

Besides it gave an opportunity to have some fun and blow off some steam.

Hope You all have checked out the Swisstool Madness,

Awarded.   :tu:

However I feel a little ripped off. Only one of five pics shows some of the chainsaw. More pics of the chainsaw please Dougizzle.

Thanks for the badge zoid.
Here's the only other pic I got with the chain saw in it.
I'm not much on juggling so trying to keep up with the camera, avoid mesquite thorns, and operate a chain saw was just a little more than I could handle.

Any way to use that wood for Q?  As in BBQ  :dunno:.  When I trimmed my apple tree I use the wood to smoke meats.  Very subtle flavoring but noticeable.

My chainsaw is actualy an ECHO.  It got taken out in a flood a couple of months ago and is still not back from the shop (got to get it to the shop before I can get it back.)  The one you are seeing in the photos is my neighbors and unfortunately I don't know the model.  I will however say it made quick work of what looked like was going to be a long day with the sawzall.

I used to do the same thing with the pecan trees where we lived several years ago.  It was great!  Mesquite is a little differant but I ABSOLUTELY will be using some of that wood for the barby.  What I'm burnung off right now are the small branches that are covered in thorns barbs.

The peices above about 1/2" in diameter are for the most part thorn free and stackable enough to dry with out creating a snake hang out.
Mesquite really needs to be DRY before using it to smoke foods otherwise it imparts a strong bitter taste

You can't get the badge with someone else's chainsaw.

We really need pics of your echo.   :pok:

I've got an older twin cylinder echo that is a heap of fun to use.

I'll get some picks of the Echo up shortly, just don't exspect to much.  As I said it was cought in a flood and has not been to the shop yet.  I'm not even sure it can be saved.

Here it is, striking a pose at one end of the 16 ft rail road ties it cut to form the perimeter of our drive.

Here'as much of that drive as I could get in one photo.  Cut and stacked all of them by myself and the Echo was the only power tool used.

and here are some of the telephone poles it's cut up.

Just a quick word to the wise, Telephone poles and rail road ties are SMURF on chain saw blades.  Make sure you have your files ready and you know how to use them.  A spare chain is not a bad idea if your going to be cutting very many at one time.

Very nice!   :tu:   :like:

Hope you can get the saw all cleaned up.

I still have a lot of firewood to work through so I might get a pic or two of my echo.
