Nah, more like minimal effort of companies who don't give a damn about the environment. For consumers who don't really want to be inconvenienced for something as trivial as the environment.

If we look at the EU, then it is of course not just straws (one-use cutlery, plates, cup etc. are all included). At an estimate of 26 million tons of plastic waste EU wide. Lets say only 1% ended up on the ground, and we exchange 1% of that with bio-degradable material. 0.01% is still 2 600 tons of plastic less in the environment. A single straw might not seem impactful, especially if it still comes in plastic wrapping but if you do the math, it adds up.

P.S.: 2600 tons equals to 5732019 pounds for the imperialists out there :hatsoff:
