I once changed out the transmission of a Toyota pickup and discovered the rear mounting holes did not match up with the brackets on the pickup. I used some metal strapping that is typically used for bracing walls to support the rear of the transmission and keep it inline with the driveshaft  :D
One night, the screws securing the metal strapping failed, causing the transmission to droop and fall out of alignment with the driveshaft. Out of desperation, I used a shoe to prop up the end of the transmission. That worked so well that I left the shoe in place until I bought a car a couple of years later  :2tu:
