Sorry for your loss Fuzzy. Had to go through that a few months ago and never good to deal with.
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

Some people talk about their pets waking them up, not Fisher.  This is the look I go this morning.

What is funny is the multicolor blanket that he was laying on, starts out every night near the end of the bed on a stand.  Frequently in the middle of the night, he will pull it down and work it into a nice bed between the end of my bed and door.  Mow he does have a large crate with a soft blanket right near where he does this that he could sleep in but No.

Molly isn't a morning dog either.  She'd quite happily stay in bed all morning.

Our older son adopted a rescue for his home, welcome Hades to the family! He brought him over so we could see him and he could run loose in the hockey rink, we didn’t let Dex play with him cause this is his first day out of the shelter in over 4 months and he needs to adjust and warm up before anything, but he seemed like a nice dog..

You are right to take it slowly IMO.  Hard to walk back from a negative first encounter I think.  Perhaps a few on-lead walks together in neutral territory to get to know each other.
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Funny thing was his girlfriend, Hades has got to weigh maybe 75lbs(34k) and she had him on the leash and well, she couldn’t hold him back, Hades just kept pulling her around the backyard and almost made her face plant, lol.. oh I sooo would have paid to see and record that!! :rofl:
I’m waiting for a pic of Dex cause It was a little cold in the room the last couple days and he doesn’t have a blanket and we’re not turning the heat on, but the kid gave him a shirt he doesn’t wear and I put it on him and he looks adorable, when we got up his ears were warm so he wasn’t cold, and he doesn’t try to take it off, so he likes it!
