Wanted: Your Spare 91 mm Combo Tool
on: May 06, 2020, 09:14:33 PM
Hello everyone,

I'm planning Scientist and Yeoman builds and lack the Combo openers.  It just seems wrong to take apart a decent condition Compact just to get the Combo tool when I already have a couple beater Explorers that will be sacrificed.  So if you have a couple Combo tool implements you could send my way, that'd be great.  I'm happy to give fair market value and pick up postage too.  :)

Thanks!

Myron

I switched to the Combo tool from the Waiter. It just needs a small reprofiled pivot shape (where it meets the backspring) to point up higher when closed, and the hole enlarged to 2.5mm. (As per your Nakeds)

Thanks, Max.  If I end up doing this, I might drop you a line with a couple questions.  :)

Look up the Schrade Century line of 91mm knives. Get a combo tool from one of them, it's the exact same tool. And on a non-collectable, dirt-cheap knife.

Yup, no problem. Schrade bought tools from Victorinox and stamped their name on them. If you want a 91mm waiter, you can get the schrade and literally swap Victorinox scales on it and call it done. Blade will say made in germany, but otherwise will be identical in appearance and quality.

Oh yeah, so you'll need to use various search terms on eBay to find them.

"ISC Germany" often works.
schrade imperial
century swiss army knife
schrade isc
century cn knife
isc cn knife
cn germany knife

etc.

Here's a couple links for the ones with the combo tool:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/324178983048
https://www.ebay.com/itm/323592975543

The part number for the above knife is CN31. It's named the "Steward".
CN31 is red. CN 32-35 are different colors, but the same knife underneath.

The CN111 Endeavor is also has the combo tool, and a phillips instead of corkscrew. But it's a bit harder to find.
