DE-GM
on: May 13, 2020, 04:00:02 PM
Ok noob question here - I've seen some knives with a DE-GM stamp and a number.  From what I can tell this is a sort of quasi-patent number that was only stamped for a few years?  DE seems to reference Germany to me.  Can anyone elaborate?
Thanks in advance!

It's a patent number (of locking mechanism) in Germany as you've mentioned

Great thanks.  What years would it be expected to be seen in? Which models, if it's possible to say.

Slide lock models (so 111mm only).
And I'd have to lie when giving you a timeperiod :D

Maybe using up a leftover blade like they did with year stamped civilian knives.

I've seen only liner-locks with the DE-GM stamping.
The slide-locks had 'PATENTED' on the reverse side.

Estimate use was somewhere between 1990 en 2005, but this is not exact!!

Yup, the knives I have with this marking are all early liner locks.  For example the Model 2003 DAK.

DE-GM = Deutschland-Gebrauchsmuster

Deutschland = Germany

Gebrauchsmuster = "Utility Model", kind of like a quick patent or patent lite
