At 100 mm in length, the new Knipex Cobra XS pliers will be even smaller than the 125 mm version many of us carry.

Sometimes, I find the 125mm Cobras I own a little undersized. Not enough leverage. But, they will beat out pretty much any MT on the market.  They open up a lot wider, and are tougher.  61 grams ain't a whole lot of weight.

They are slimmer and thus easier to get into tighter spaces. I will be buying these for my train stuff, but will carry them a bit to see how they stack up against my 125mm (4.5" Cobras).  If not a whole lot more than 125mm, I am getting a couple of pairs. The 125mm version is about as small as I can practically get for my uses. In fact, I have been considering upgrading to the 140mm version for my compact toolkit, since nearly every other tool in there is 6" or longer; including the adjustable wrench and Knipex Combination Pliers.

I have the 125 mm and 150 mm Cobra pliers.  I don't use the 150 mm pliers much because the smaller 125 mm version is just about as effective and easier to carry.

Here is a video comparing the 125 and 150 mm versions:

I'm not sure I'd want something smaller than my 125mm but I'm sure it will have a market somewhere.

I'm afraid I'm in that market. It will be just too smurfing cute to resist. Like puppies and so on.

I know I’m probably going to get one (I don’t know if I would need one that small, but I can’t resist  >:D)  You can’t go wrong with knipex they beat channel locks any day of the week.  :tu:

Most of what I own are Channellocks due to the cost associated with Knipex. I was using a 442 (which has a jaw type that basically is a copy of what Knipex uses); and the standard tongue and groove is just a pain in the backside, vs. the ease in the button.  I am eventually getting some of the larger pairs. 6", 8", and 10" should match up with my most used Channellocks. I have an 18" pair by Proto, but I know the Knipex version are way out of my price range!

Irwin has a nice set that go for about $13.

It is interesting, this really seems to be marketed at the EDC crowd, they hint at this at the end of the video

It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

I ordered one of these from KTool on the interweb.  They never shipped, and don't respond to email or phone calls.  I filed a Paypal claim.  Just an FYI.

After weeks of convincing myself that the XS is too small, I ordered one yesterday from Amazon.  I still think that the 5"/125mm may be better for me, but we shall see.

I have the same 5 inch model and if you already have that, I think it would be pointless to get the smaller one.

From a purely utilitarian perspective, that is true.  But many of us buy our toys for other reasons.   :salute:

Yes, I bought an XS just to see what it was like to handle.
And my answer was : Too small to use comfortably in my (largish) hands, but my missus liked it, so it is in her work room now.  :tu:

So how do you adjust the XS? I can’t tell from the pics how it works.

To close it up just slide the handle for the lower jaw upwards (it ratchets),
to open the jaw up open the handles fully and position it wherever you want.
There is no button like on some other Knipex Cobras.
