I really hope the price won't be that steep. The Farmer has been a faithful companion for over a decade if I recall correctly and will be an heirloom tool

I'm still not seeing it on Vx's US site, but it seems that's often the last place new releases appear.  I can't wait to get one.  The ultimate camping knife.

As an incurable alox fanboy, I'm really looking forward to it!  :ahhh
It is the first official four-layer alox model and just for that reason something special.

Vic never announces new models in their listed offerings with a "coming soon".
They just pop up on the release date :D

If it's any consolation,  that's $3 more  than I had to pay for my Pioneer here in NZ.  I shudder at what it will cost here,  or if it'll even make it here

That last part, you're not wrong. The National importer won't bring in many, if any LTD edition stuff now, like the yearly pioneer. Peters of Kensington, in Sydney it is.

Yeah.... I'll be waiting for the prices to normalise.
Also still a bit on the fence weather it could rival my Ranger. It would be too wide for pocket carry for me anyways

The Pioneer X is already somewhat heavy in a pants pocket, so I suspect the Farmer X will be a bit of a beast. However, I’m a complete sucker for anything Alox with a scissors.

Can't help thinking the Farmer X is a bit of a RIP off. Theres no new parts,so theres no development costs to cover. I can't help thinking that Vic is milking the Alox collectors market. Now I love a but of alox as much as the next SAK nut,but this is silly!
There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

I mentioned something to this effect on another thread...

I feel like the Victorinox design team is begrudgingly producing this because they believe that it's what we want.  It's almost like the chef at a 5-star restaurant reluctantly preparing a steak or fish well done because the customer wants it.

That said, I don't think it will be bad, and many of us will happily carry one.  I'm curious to see how you all like yours. I think I'll get one a little later on, as I have three relatively recent purchases that I am looking forward to putting through their paces over the next several months.

I dunno...

I can't speak to UK prices, but here in the US, with the Pioneer, Farmer, and Pioneer X at roughly $35, $40, & $45, respectively, I would have hoped the Farmer X would be more like $50 than the $60 it seems to be going for.  That said, I don't feel like it's a crazy price, and I'm not going to sweat an extra $10 for a knife I may very well be hiking and camping with long after I forget what I paid for it.

For an example of a knife clearly aimed at the collector market, there's always the $400 Damast Alox Hunter Pro 2020 LE...

So, by the speed that Victorinox has been releasing alox models with scissors, we should see a cadet with scissors around 2024!  :ahhh
