How long until Farmer X gets black scales with red cross ?

What’s up fellas. Hope everyone is well. I’m digging the new Farmer X and have always admired the black Alox scales with the red cross. Anybody have any guesses as to how long it might be before it’s released with these scales? Perhaps someone knows how long it took for them to appear with the Pioneer X?

I don't expect you'll ever see the black with red cross again. They go against their current standard color rules. I'm sure normal black will happen fairly soon.

Thanks Pop. Didn%u2019t realize they stopped making those scales.  Could have sworn they were readily available on Pioneers just a few years ago.  What are these standard color rules you speak of?

Single color with silver shield&cross is the norm now for the non-silver alox knives.

I believe the last time they mixed scale and shield colors was back in 2013 for a very limited run.

Starting with the annual color release starting in 2015 Victorinox has only done single color scales on their alox knives, unless you count the very very rare limited releases(like 25-50 pcs each) where the each scale is a different color but the shield background itself is still the same color as the scale. Ex.: Kingfisher Pioneer with one Blue and one Orange scale, but the shield background is still the same blue as the blue scale.

As to other colors, I'm hoping DLT and KC will have single color scale options by the end of the year so I will be holding off on the buying the Farmer X for a bit.

If anyone has more accurate info please share.

There were some pioneers with red shields, put those are creeping up in price  also cadets and bantams for the Danish market and , I believe, farmers for the Italian. Red, black, green, blue, and silver. Supposedly the only exceptions to those will be the annual knives and Nespresso if those ever happen again.

As soon as they manage to produce farmer x with black scales it'll be my EDC in stead of the current fieldmaster. Roughly the same tool set but much sturdier and about as knife-nut-like as I dare to show myself to be. :D

I'll need to do something about scale tools that will now be absent form my edc, but I think I am EDC savvy enough to come up with a solution... :D

Shame about the red shields disappearing. Victorinox seems to be trying extra hard to be boring these days. The annual colour variations of Cadet/Pioneer and Classic are no fun at all.
I really wish I'd bought more of Swissbianco's crazy and colourful knives because it seems we'll never see such variety again!
