I don't think Vic. could even find us on the map. Why would they put us on a SAK?

This is brilliant, but then you shouldn't be surprised why they didn't put you on a SAK!  :pok:

I live near this town in VA. Knife collectors around here don't care for SAKs (in fact, I think myself and maybe one or two other guys are all that collect them. Given as the majority of businesses around here for decades have been coal mining and ag related, you'll typically see knives that aresturdy workman's patterns--often lockbacks,  hawkbills, TL29s, Barlows, or Stockmen. Knives with ads for companies in my local area is one of the few ad knives I actively collect

Been in this place (a farm supply and hardware store) lots of times.  Granddad got the knife from them in the early 90s.  It's a Colonial Ranger Stockman.

Cody

I was through there once several years ago. Of course no one knew it 'cause of my Al foil hat :-)
Was nearly run off a road by a coal truck :-(   Good thing you have that knife to tell you where you are.
I don't have a knife to tell me where I am :-(  The attendants keep telling me, but I forget.
I keep telling them I'm not crazy, just a SAK collector - but maybe that's the same.

@cody: Thanks for your interesting comment and pic. I have never had a knife from this manufacturer in my hands, it looks well made and solid, not like many cheap souvenirs and advertising knives. Thanks for showing here!  :tu: :like:

Colonials are hit and miss. They made really cheap lines, and really nice ones like Ranger, Anvil, and Old Cutler Some, well most from the 1950s and 1960s are rubbish, and very cheaply made.  Ranger, Anvil, and Old Cutler were introduced in the 1970s, and are all decent.  The Rangers are pretty solid knives and new and used can be had fairly cheaply.  Anvil and Old Cutler could easily be compared to any Schrade or Camillus of the 1970s-1990s.  Fit and finish as well as build quality is far better than the lower-end models.  But there are later lines, like Swiss Master (nearly all SAK copies) that lasted into the company's closure in 2000 that are pretty bad.

Why didn't they use the front scale, instead of the back one? They got the image upside down...

This is the front, and I don't think the back scale has a top side and a bottom side, so upside down is undefined, IMO :)

I had a mountaineer with the French flag on it but my revolutionary spirit made me shuck them off and replace them with nihilistic black ones.
